The purpose of this display is to honor those that are serving and have served in the armed forces. Without their numerous sacrifices our country and world would not exist as it does today. Their continuing service deserves our utmost respect and honor, for the men and women of the armed forces are true champions at work. Exhibiting the pinnacle of patriotism, the armed forces work every day to protect our industrial society and its continuing search for knowledge. By protecting the individuals that work to attain new knowledge and skills, the armed forces protect our modern technology and bring the light of knowledge to the foreign lands they serve in.
Members of the team had asked their parents for pictures of them in the armed forces, and other members wrote up the brief paragraphs for each branch of the armed forces. The military personnel in the display are Staff Sergeant Kenneth Stewart for the United States Army, Senior Chief Tim Hatch for the United States Navy, Sergeant Eric Dees for the United States Air Force, and Major Glen Melin for the United States Marine Corps. These Champions at Work have continued to serve our great country: Kenneth Stewart is a technology teacher at Flour Bluff High School; Tim Hatch is a communications dispatcher for the Department of Public Safety; Eric Dees is an assistant principal at Flour Bluff Junior High; and Glen Melin is a simulator instructor in Kingsville. These soldiers continue to show their belief in the American way of life and the value of quality work by encouraging their children and students to act with dignity in their own work, respect the rights of others, and to strive to be the example in their schools and jobs. These are true Champions at Work.
